Been reading this book. I bought for RM8.00 at the Cineleisure (lower ground, Selvam magazine store where there are a lot of past issues magazines for sale). I’d bet many people in KL, who lived in KL for almost their entire life don’t even know much about its history. There’s a debate on who was the real founder of KL – Raja Abdullah or Yap Ah Loy? Very interesting. Even Botak Chin was hailed as a “Robin Hood” of KL. That’s something we dont find it easy to digest but that fact coming from an oldtimer (the writer), its very hard to believe. There’s a lot more stories about what happened in the yesteryears of KL, buildings which we passes by everyday but its history and origin was never known or we didn’t care to find out. Many of us are quite an ignorant.

A good book to keep in the car to read while sitting in a KL infamous traffic jam. For a mere RM8.00, this is certainly a laugh.

Positioning device these days are fast becoming a must-have gadget for road users. Normal maps are now obsolete. I have always thought that road warriors like me doesn’t need a GPS device. I am wrong. There is always some remote corner of the city that you may not have been foot before.

Had an appointment at Hulu Klang police station the other day and I relied on my phone… equipped with garmin Mobile XT, to look for the place. The software is very accurate. Just last week, I was lost in Port Klang and again the phone helped me again.

Guys, the GPS software on your phone is highly recommended. Its handy when you are lost in town. Bug your phone dealer to install one for you. Pirated of course. haha.

I didn’t know when choosing a ladies handbag, there’s so much of both art and science involved. My mum really gave a good lecture.

From the colour, to the straps to the material to size to practicality to brands to age (person’s age) to almost everything…. there’s a lot of wisdom and philosophy in choosing a ladies handbag. Arrghhh.. why so complicated? Isn’t it the more compartment the better? Isn’t it the bigger the better for value? Leather vs PVC vs fabric? Colour like striking fluorescent green or the old plain colour or the glossy surface or the shimmering “Kate Moss” style of material? Singlehandle strap vs double handle strap is also a long chapter on its own. Ultimately of course the price plays a big influence in the selection.

This subject is very interesting as it is hard to get a bag that suits for all occasion… a bag which you can carry lots of stuffs yet trendy and arrghhh…. well, at the end of the day it all goes down to the preference of that person who’s gonna carry that bag.

Most digital cameras now use the EXIF format. The format is part of the DCF standard created by JEITA to encourage interoperability between imaging devices.

It is the meta info when you hover your mouse over a picture file, a balloon will pop up showing you the date and time the picture was taken, camera make & model, exposure, shutter speed, settings etc.

You can alter or delete the annoying information altogether because these information often make your life harder as some pundek “jern” bastards are snooping over these information and see if you are lazy or not. Don’t let these information ruin your day.

Oh yeah… the company provided new camera again. This time a Nikon. So.. we have to learn again how to use a new camera. We’re too used to the Sony’s patented interface, we now have to take the learning curve again. Perhaps, Nikon is a better camera…. but in the point-and-shoot segment, I don’t see a reason to compare it religiously. I’m not into any of these religions… Nikon Canon Sony Olympus arrgghgh. Its just a point-and-shoot. As long as it has the inbuilt time stamp and decent ease of use, it’ll be adequate for most of our work. Oh yeah, it shoots in JPEG and AVI mode only.

Man, a whoping 12.1 MP camera but we’re using only VGA mode (640×480). Yes, you won’t believe it but we’re using only VGA mode due to the outdated software only can generate reports for VGA pictures. The developer for that software went out of business (I’d guess) and we’re left with this obsolete yet crucial piece of software to help us generate report in a fraction of time from doing it manually.

Eh… the build is quite sturdy. Magnesium body casing and there’s hotshoe for a decent flashgun. Oh yeah, lets go do some amateur shooting this weekend.

Yesterday I decided to throw away my collection of cigarette boxes that have been sitting in my antique display cabinet in the living room. You can’t find some of these at the shop here. Some are from Africa. Some are from the US. Cigarette box is quite handy for storing AA batteries for the camera and some other small stuffs.

However, I have quit smoking and this collection is going away. My mom is giving it to his friend… who so happen also like to collect these rubbish.

Anyone still remember the show Born To Ride starring John Stamos in the 90s. That motorcycle show had me grown fond for this German marque however…. not the yankees’.

During WWII, BMW produced the BMW R75 motorcycle with a sidecar attached. Unusually, the sidecar’s wheel was also driven. Combined with a lockable differential, this made the vehicle very capable off-road, an equivalent in many ways to the Jeep. This is a technically advanced machine in which the third side-car wheel was driven from an axle connected to the rear wheel of the motorcycle, effectively making it a three-wheeled vehicle. Fitted with a locking differential and selectable road and off-road gear ratios the R75 was highly manoeuvrable and capable of negotiating most surfaces. It was even fitted with a reverse gear. It was this technological R75 at that time that had the Allied yankees dropped their jaw in awe and instructed the upcoming Harley-Davidson to come up with something up-to-match with this marvel in order to stay compete in mobilisation power.

However, today, Harley-Davidson is the more sought-after de facto chopper touring big bike.
