Liverfoolball

August 30, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy No Comments →

My dearest, who have zero knowledge in football, been telling me her friends and colleagues been asking her to get something Liverfool fc for them as they know we’re going to UK soon. Imagine she dont even know what is anfield and someone asked if she can get him a patch of grass from anfield’s pitch and a drop of Torres’ sweat. Then another fella asked if can get a scarf and fridge magnets. What the fuck. I rather go Villa Park with my irish uncle. I heard his dad was a staff there many years ago.

Liverpool is part of our itinerary but we’re not there for its football. We’re going there for the Magical Mystery Tour. Yeah….I admit, I’m a huge Beatles fan….. but just 45 years late.

As I said earlier, I will be going to OT. Even my dad is excited and he makes sure that I go there. Well, then give me some sponsorship, dad. Haha. Been getting request from a fellow United supporter to get him a jersey for the new season. Man… we can get that here in Malaysia. He said the wordings & numbers on the back of the shirt are better in quality over there. Really? I don’t know. I’m not there for shopping spree. Don’t expect much souvenirs ok. I’ll just get you guys some Dji Sam Soe at the airport. The Budget 2009 didn’t really give me tangible incentive.

Pantang Superstitious

August 28, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy No Comments →

Attended yet another wake….. funeral…. last weekend. This time, my grand uncle is not around anymore. Sometime its sad to see the people you have seen for many years now going away one by one. Man, just feel like we are really getting older.

Almost the whole family attended the wake except the uncle who is getting married next week and his whole family. His mom… the sister of the deceased, reminded us and the rest who went to the wake.. not to go to her house and her sons’. Chinese sure have a lot of superstitious customs and pantang-larang.

But then, as long as my knowledge serves, these pantang only valid to the immediate family of the deceased. The wife and children of the deceased should not attend any functions during the mourning period. Only the deceased’s elder or younger brother(s) should observe the pantang. Deceased’s married sisters and their families need not follow all these crap.

I remember my granny (the deceased uncle’s eldest sister) was told by my deceased uncle’s mother in-law that she cannot attend the funeral at the mortuary because she is 1. elder 2. female & married (off) the family.

Granny just layan’ed her, nodded yes-um-ah, and then just hopped onto the bus with us and off we went to the mortuary for the cremation. “What rubbish, I can’t even go to my brother’s funeral?” she asked. Long live granny. I just feel lucky that granny never observed these rubbish pantangs at home. Apparently, the mother in-law is same age with my granny.

Ok, I will not elaborate long on the matter as it will cause customary unrest.

It was like the show

August 19, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy 2 Comments →

The tv was showing Grey’s Anatomy yesterday and there’s a patient with some rare illness/disease sitting on the operating chair with all the medical officers and doctors surrounded him. The senior doctor was discussing and teaching them with a real live sick patient. What should you do when things like this happen? What was the cause for this to happen? The questions goes on….

I suddenly remembered the day when I was sitting in front of a bunch of student doctors with my jaw dangling, tongue sticking out like a dog, sliver dripping like babies….. I gave permission for them to use me as a case study for the medical studies. The doctor was putting archbar into my mouth and the students were taking pictures of the procedure and my mouth.

Its gonna be a year this Friday since the great fall.

Mee Mee Poh Poh

August 16, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy No Comments →

Attended a wake yesterday nite. My godfather’s mom passed away at the age of 79 years. She was my mom’s godmother. Me and my cousin called her “mee mee poh poh”. Mee as in noodles. She used to sell noodles near the place where we lived which was walking distance from my late grandmother’s house in Taman Sri Melati.

Apparently she was from the same town where my grandparents hailed, Batu Gajah. Well, I just got to know it yesterday. My cousin and I was remisnicing the days when we’re just about 3-4 years old when my granny would push the stroller with my cousin on it and I follow…. to the mee stall for breakfast every morning. Then later when the mee stall was relocated to the market in Selayang Jaya, grandma will take us on bicycle to the market every morning. My cousin will be in the front of the bike while I sat behind. If memory serves me right, my cousin was put in the basket. Granny will be chatting with mee mee poh poh and the other aunties at the stall. You know lah, market place. My cousin and I will be playing around.

Yesterday my cousin even said to some one…. “we ate her noodles when we were growing up, we grew up with her noodles”. Hmm…. thats true. Granny had been eating prawn mee and curry mee at her stall every morning without fail. If it’s not prawn mee, it will be curry mee for the day. Me and my cousin had wan tan mee every morning. I don’t know, but we can have the same good food from the same shop everyday if we like the food. Granny was like that, I’m like that…. perhaps my cousin is also like that. Sometimes, we just reluctant to go to another place to eat the same thing if we have a particular shop which sells the food we already like the taste.

Well, rest in peace, Mee Mee Poh Poh. Her coffin was buried at the Cheras Christian Cemetery this morning.

Colleague or friend?

August 13, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy 3 Comments →

A colleague asked if I’ve read an article in the papers lately about colleagues. He also asked if I agree with the article, that a colleague is just a colleague. Colleagues cannot be friends as in buddies, because the relationship will eventually snap at one point of time due to some unforeseen circumstances.

Ok, when a colleague asks you this, you have no choice but to be diplomatic. He went on saying that colleague will use each other for their own gains such as promotion and you can only trust yourself.  Well, actually I have always been a strong believer that a colleague is just a colleague. No matter how good and buddy you are to your colleague, I bet that someday when either one gets reward, the other will be envious and rivalry is the evil that go hand in hand with office politika. Its a dog eat dog world after all. I’ve read about the importance of team building motivation activities for staff so that he/she will be able to appreciate the comradeship of the other colleagues. Chinamen company is just different.

There are some exceptional instances where colleagues became good buddies. It just doesn’t happen so often in our life. What rubbish is all this? Thanks for reading.

The sky had rained

August 08, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy 2 Comments →

It finally rained today…. cats and dogs…. after weeks without rain. It started to rain during lunch time. There were road blocks in many places in KL this morning as former Deputy PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was charged.

I wondered if the rain has something to do with the Anwar. I mean, the sky rained because it wanted to express dissapproval to Anwar being charged for something he may not have committed. I been cursing during the whole rush hour home after work. Terrible jam and rain. I bet some places would have been flooded.

Hope the truth will unfold soon and that “sodomised” victim’s anus be checked again. Indeed if its consensual, why only Anwar was brought to court?

Robbed at knife-point in hometown

August 02, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy No Comments →

Met Mba (not his real name) for lunch this afternoon at famous duck leg mee, Intan Baiduri. I was shocked to know that my homie was robbed of his wallet and new N81 and was brought to the ground. He was kicked in the face while lying on the road, punched and received outpatient treatment for some lacerations. Got some cuts from the parang that one of the culprits used.

He was robbed just right in front of his in-laws’ house (in Selayang Jaya) where he was getting into the car to leave for home. He was assaulted by 4 mat rempits on two motorbikes. Luckily, his laptop is not taken away as he had just put it into the car and the culprits were in haste. He told me he was wondering and was kinda curious if something’s amiss when he saw 2 motorbikes loitering around there. It was too late when he realised something is wrong and it happened to fast. The culprits came towards him in a blink of an eye and assaulted him.

Gosh…. looks like he had it worse than me. I was only a victim to snatch thieves. No wonder we see security guard business blossoming nowadays. The police is useless, so we got no choice but to hire private security services for our neighbourhood. Police is more interested in setting up road blocks just because people are coming to town to meet Anwar. Man, with puasa month and Hari Raya just 2 months away, expect a lot of money-making roadblocks from now on. Your rear seat belts !!!! Buckle it up. They have a reason to book you for it. That one is putih putih one.

Countdown to OT

Yeah.. I’m doing countdown. Yeah…. it is drawing near…… I just can’t wait to go.

Yeah, its true about the spa

July 20, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy No Comments →

Got a free complimentary 1 hour massage from True Spa (subsidiary of True Fitness) at Jaya 33, PJ.  So both of us, my szer and I went and I knew it will be some sort of marketing ploy. Well, luckily the person supposed to give us the sales talk was not present or else we would’ve sat there listening to endless crap.

The complimentary foot spa (not foot reflexology massage, mind you) was rather so-so. I’ve chose for foot massage. They gave me option of foot spa, shoulder massage and back scrub. Well, the place is quite nice. Its on the 4th Floor of Jaya 33 building…. one floor above the gym, True Fitness and there’s a swimming pool under construction. They have this massage chair where they have a jacuzzi for your feet. It is not so ergonomically to sit and have your feet massaged as you have to be alert to avoid your feet falling into the water in the jacuzzi. The complimentary massage was just for 30 minutes. They cheated us. Another 30 minutes was supposed for the sales talk.

However, the cute plump girl attended to us was rather nice by letting us know that the person supposed to talk to us was not present and we can just leave some contacts.. friends and relatives that might be interested for the massage package or should I say membership. Hey…. the normal price and even member’s price is still quite expensive. I thought they’d bundle it together with the gym membership package.

Anyway, we’ve sold many of you readers’ contacts in return for 30 minutes of indulgence. We’ve got no choice. Haha. What do you say? If you get a call from True Spa, chances are it is from me or szer. Enjoy your spa ok.

Your favourite bak kut teh

July 13, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy 3 Comments →

Hello world. Post is scarce nowadays. Not much time to blog. A lot of work and kinda lazy. Exam’s coming up. Someone was sodomised by Anwar. Our Najib is trembling in fear and a bit kelam-kabut while gulping his sliver as you can see on tv when he appeared for news press conference. Prices for every fucking thing has gone up. Salary and essential allowances still the same as 5 years ago. Maarfeeeleeendough fuck suck. Inflation….. !!

Well, been going around eating bak kut teh and the best is stiillll in Kepong. Last week, I had bak kut teh 3 times in a week (PJ-SS51, PJ- opposite St. Ignatius Church, Klang-Taman Rashna). Sometime you will hear people saying that bak kut teh shop in some area is the best….. and another fella arguing the one in another area is the best….. and the debate goes on and on. Well, all these dishes come in various flavour and style of cooking. At the end of the day, it all depend on your preference.

I hate Klang bak kut teh because it sucks and they force you to eat from the plate with fork and spoon. Stupid isn’t it? How many scoops of soup can you take to down a good mouthful of soup down your throat? Sometime, when people blanja, you got no choice but there’s no satisfaction. I don’t know which smart ass joe thought of it eating with fork and spoon. When you ask for chopstick, chinese spoon and rice to be serve in bowl, the waiter will look at you dumbfounded. Geez.

Best bak kut teh in ourskirt KL:

  • Lim Kee bak kut teh (Jalan Development, Taman Kepong) - they have good yam rice
  • yet another Lim Kee bak kut teh (Tmn Bukit Maluri, Kepong…. near Tuck Kee Restaurant)
  • Kaka bak kut teh (Kepong main road near RHB Bank and drive-in Pizza Hut/KFC) - also serves good pig leg vinegar; you won’t miss their eye-catchy red signboard
  • Restoran Grandpa bak kut teh (formerly Chong Huat in Taman Bidara, Selayang) - also famous for its salted mui choi

When you found a good bak kut teh shop, you will be reluctant to go elsewhere for it. Any better bak kut teh in Klang Valley? Bring it on.

*edited* Oh yeah… Ban Lee bak kut teh (next to Dynasty Hotel, Jln. Ipoh) is also great. They cook bak kut teh using charcoal stove and it adds to the flavour.

Unisex School of Driving

July 08, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy 3 Comments →

I was in Bangi when I saw these car hogging the road. Ok, fine, someone’s learning how to drive. But hey, Unisex….. what a name for a driving school. What are trying to convey? Both genders can sign up for driving classes at this school while other driving schools only take single gender?! Haha.

Two “L” cars hogging the trunk road.

Guiness Stout facts

July 02, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy No Comments →

The high quality Guinness brewed in Malaysia has been awarded the Guinness League of Excellence Award for two consecutive years - 2006 and 2007. This award recognises the Guinness that you drink in Malaysia as being the very best in the world outside of Ireland.

They’ve refined the distinctive taste of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout to give it just the right balance of strength and smoothness while maintaining the bittersweet and full body character that’s unique to Guinness. In doing so, the alcohol content is now 6.8%.

Yeah, I gonna redeem my 2 free bottles of stout at the nearest The Store. Thanks GAB.

See you in South Africa

June 30, 2008 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy 2 Comments →

The Euro has ended bitterly for us, the Deutschland fans. There’s no trophy yet for this decade. Watched the game at Souled Out, Hartamas with Mel, Daniel Franklin and his colleagues. There were actually two Germans in our crowd and I think we’re the only Germany fans there.

The thing is everyone else are rooting for Spain and the environment is like Germany vs The Rest of Europe. All this while, there’s never a big crowd of fans for Spain or did you know of anyone who’s supporting Spain for years and very hardcore at it? I don’t think you’ve seen such a person here… and yesterday everyone went into the Spanish camp. Man… what is this joke…. Yeah.. I admit the Spanish outplayed the Germans and they deserved a win. Being No. 2 in Europe is not bad either. Look where’s all the sissy Italians and overrated Englishmen. Lucky England did not make it !!! Thanks Israel.

They actually came there with flags…. they were shouting in German and Daniel spewed profanity like no body’s business when our team looses ball possession, fouled, someone’s not booked for acting etc…. even Liverpool team was not spared. On the far left is Stefan and I forgot the one sitting next to Daniel.

Dan, is his name Ugur or something?

After the match, it is normal to see this. Mel couldn’t help but to take pictures. Well, this is football. Anything can happen. At least we stick to our beloved team through thick and thin and not switch camp like what the others did. I can bet there were many fans of teams which were knocked out by Germany in Euro, and the England crowd. I bet. I didn’t see anyone wearing a Spanish shirt…. but true fan will wear their official shirt or colour in a Final game. What a pathetic fans crowd of the spanish team here in Malaysia.

Deutschland, we will prove to the world in South Africa.
