This morning a group of concerned residents in the the Tropicana, PJ area held a picket protest on the proposed Tropicana International School to be built on a piece of land in front of Casa Tropicana Condominium traffic light.

Residents from the various communities around here – Tropicana TR, Riana Green Condo, Casa Tropicana, Avenue 23 etc….. all assembled near the land where it was proposed to build the unwanted international school that doesn’t serve the majority of residents here… Malaysian residents I mean. There’s already an international school in the nearby Kota Damansara…why is there a need to build another one?? The SJK (C) Damansara opposite of Riana Green Condo already created a lot of traffic mess but at least that school is catering to the needs of Malaysians.

How many Malaysians send their children to international school?

The developer should think of building more access road and other amenities i.e. playground parks which the area is seriously lacking. There are no additional access road to this area. Worse still, the road in front of that old Sony building is now a one way road. Then, there are office blocks and 3 high-density condominiums in the making and yet there are no sign of road expansion to cater for the forseeable influx of inhabitants and traffic.

What kind of crap developer is this? No representative of Dijaya was present during the picket.

One of the reason why housing is so expensive in urban area is because of the shitty public transportation that we have. The nightmare of having to commute to work everyday for at least 3 hours on the road will put off a lot of people. Therefore they are maximising the land use around the urban and suburban area with high-density apartments and flats. No matter how many blocks of apartment or condominium you build, there’ll always be demand and got snapped up in a relatively short time… most of the time by investors who wanna flip and make money.

If the public transport is good, there’ll be less traffic jam and I can opt to stay further out of KL i.e. Shah Alam, Klang, Rawang, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya etc. because I can travel to work with the daily traffic nightmare.

Everyone wants to stay around town so that they can cut short travel time (with traffic jam included) and this demand has drove up the house prices in urban areas. So, at the end of the day, it comes back to public transportation.

But if public transport is improved, car sales will drop for all carmakers in Malaysia and this MAY cause Proton to go bankrupt when other carmakers slash prices to boost sales . National pride will be affected there. Then consumption of fuel will also drop…. less profit for Petronas. Again, national pride will be affected. Then there will be no more reason to build highways anymore. As you can see, highways doesn’t solve the traffic jam problem. It only make it a lil bit more convenient to travel. WE NEED TO TAKE THE CARS OFF THE ROAD. THE SAME AMOUNT OF CARS OR MORE WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

I think it’s all inter-related. The taxes and profits (direct or indirect) and perhaps some carrots they get from transportation related industries i.e. vehicle taxes, AP, oil, rubber etc makes it better off than implementing good public transports.

I had a dream yesterday. I was smuggling some cash and was caught at an airport. The officers found a stack of cash in my pocket and confiscated the money.

I was then brought to a detention room with other offenders. While waiting in the room, I was thinking of ways to clear myself of the charges. Some familiar faces were in the detained in the room too… could remember who are they, could be colleagues or friends.

Then there is this door in the room and it was partially opened. I peeked through the door and saw a ghost/imp and I was frightened like mad. I shouted “Arrrgghhhhhhh uuurrrhhhhhhharrrggghhhhhhh…” and suddenly Szer woke me up from my sleep.

Gosh. I was sweating like hell.

Last week a colleague told me over lunch that his wife just delivered their second baby last week at PPUM. It was a Caesarean operation. Then he recounted the horror of the wound bleeding after the delivery was over and gotta buy 2 packs of blood to replenish. He then discharged his wife and admitted her to Taman Desa Hospital to address the problem with the poor wound-stitching job.

Then I told him of my experience with PPUM few years ago when I had the life changing accident that broke my jaw and teeth. That stupid incompetent Dr. Quack medical officer, after cursory check and despite having perused the XRay scan, he told me I was ok to go home. My jaw was hanging and I couldn’t even move my jaw and he said I was ok.. I could not talk properly or else I would’ve gave him a profanity lesson. After a bit of a commotion at the emergency ward, then came a saviour in the form of Dr. Ha Kien Oon. I revered him as a dentistry maestro. With just a glance at the X-ray film and a bit of touching on my jaw, he said this is kinda serious. That idiot dr. Quack was embarrassed and slipped away unnoticed. Even the Head/Dean of the Dentistry Faculty met me to apologise for the medical negligence of that dr.quack.

So, many people say government /semi-government hospitals are not good but to me, it just depends on your luck. Of course there are many doctors who start their career at these hospitals and they may not have much experience. Once they gained much experience, many would’ve move to private hospitals which are much more lucrative. But there are some good ones who stayed back to teach, train, research and very much practice at the same place. It’s just that we tend to hear more of these medical negligence stories on govt./semi govt. hospitals but that does not mean private hospitals are free from such incidents. Maybe they are just covered up.

Guess my colleague just gotta make a professional indemnity claim for medical negligent.

Btw, in this post I’m in no intention of tarnishing the reputation of PPUM or any other government or government-linked medical institutions.

Another year goes by and we’re getting older. This year had been a great year for me and of course, my wife too. Many good things came our way and the intrinsic value of these good things are immensely priceless (not literally though).

We are blessed with a baby boy, Bubu G who is conceived this year and had been growing healthily in Szer’s “stomach”. A dragon boy is right on the way to play with me next year. Yay. That’s one of the happiest moment in my life so far. Preparation for his arrival is ongoing – shopping for the best baby stuffs, collecting hands-me-down stuffs from generous beloved family members, reading up on parenting, psychology, nutrition sciences, early education, toy technologies etc.

Next, the promotion which I dare say, a long deserved promotion. After plying my trade for 9 years in the same company, I finally moved a notch up the rank. The labour I’ve put into my work had gained recognition.

Then, it has to be the completion of my AMII (insurance qualification) which I’ve sacrificed 3 years to complete. It had opened many doors for me to move on from doing motor adjusting to non-motor, which promised better future career development. The completion of the course also got me a fat increment and monetary reward from the company. A win- win situation for everyone, they cover all study costs and in return for a contractual bond and huge monetary incentive for me. Not to mention the double tax deduction they’d get for sponsoring staff education.

People always say that life changes every 10 years. My life had certainly changed a lot this year. I turned 30. Got married before 30 (last December). So far it’s been a good start into my thirties. My wife also received many good things career-wise despite having joined that Dutch oil giant for just a year. The timely career improvement for both of us benefited lil Bubu G. That lil’ fella certainly brought luck to us.

So, I would like to thank The Lord Almighty for all that I have at this station of my life. May the year 2012 (dragon) be a better year for everyone. With a few more days to go, Happy New Year 2012 in advance.

Going to shopping mall these days, I’m sure you’ll see a lot of people holding heir DSLR cameras or having it hanging on their neck. I wonder why these people go shopping with their partners… along with a bulky camera. Some even walk round with their hand gripped tight to the camera and finger on the shutter button while browsing clothes with their girlfriend. Like someone might just pop their breasts out while at the changing room and you can take that split second window to click that shutter.

WTF. I’m not jealous of people having a DSLR camera but just don’t understand why would they go shopping with their girlfriend, holding her hand on one hand and the other holding a bulky camera.

No, I’m not talking about my house-hunting now.

Just moved to another desk in the office where they said, are for the officers. Nice, spacious, not so hot, and the best of all, behind me is a cabinet. So, no one’s gonna see what’s displaying on my monitor. No people walking behind me.

Unlike before this when I first moved to this side of the office, I was sitting at a “terrace-house”. Now, I moved to a “semi-d” with personal phone (although I don’t talk on the phone much). Great. That’s the G’s Clan House. Before it was vacated, the person who last sat there has the same surname as I. He’s Robert G and now another G moved into that desk.

With the terrible weather lately, we are getting a lot of cases and since last week, flood in Kajang town and the unusual windstorm last Sunday, generated quite some business for us. Hmm… but then…. work like hell.
