Malaysian Parliament is dissolved !!
PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has announced that Parliament has been dissolved, paving the way for the 12th general election in 2008.
At a hastily convened press conference at his office Wednesday afternoon, he said he had met the Yang Di Pertuan Agong in the morning and received His Majesty’s consent to dissolve Parliament.
“I’ve informed Parliament and the Election Commission,” Abdullah said. The state assemblies have also been advised to dissolve.
The Prime Minister declined to speculate on what date Malaysians would cast their ballots, saying that it would be up to the Election Commission (EC) to decide.
“I am confident of winning, and I hope that we will retain our two-thirds majority,” he said.
The ruling Barisan Nasional coalition swept to a landslide victory in the last general election in 2004.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission said it would announce polling and nomination day on Thursday at its office in Putrajaya.
The Election Commission held several meetings Wednesday in preparation for the Prime Minister’s announcement of the dissolution of Parliament.
“We have got the declaration on the dissolution of Parliament by the Yang Di Pertuan Agong and the announcement of nomination and polling will be done tomorrow,” said EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman.
When asked if nomination day was February 21 and election day on March 2nd, he said: “You can speculate anything you want. The official announcement is tomorrow.
“You wait for the official announcement,” he added.
Abdul Rashid also said, “We want to make sure of fairness in this election process. We will ensure the appropriate time and space is given for the parties to choose their candidates and for campaigning.”
Election rules
The general election must be held within 60 days of Parliament being dissolved, in accordance with Article 55(4) of the Federal Constitution.
Once Dewan Rakyat is dissolved, the tenure of all MPs automatically ends, which also means that they stop enjoying the privileges, perks, and powers related to their function.
Until the next Parliament is convened, the country is run by a caretaker government.
The caretaker government’s role is to keep the government machinery running, and should not involve making policy changes or formulating new legislation.

My buddy’s first life accomplishment
Congrats to Yea Chern who is now legally a husband. I was at Thean Hou Temple in the morning with Lee, Wen Shing and her sister the personality cum makeup artist. Of course, the family members of both the groom and bride were there too. I was there because he’s one of my best buddy and Lee and I were the cameramen. Well, I missed Ng’s and Towkay’s, I don’t wanna miss this because I don’t know who will be the next… how soon will it be. Lee, everyone’s looking at you. Hehehehe.
The whole session was quick. In less than 5 minutes for signing papers, taking oath and exchanging rings, it was over. The guy administering the affair talk like a preprogrammed voice recording machine in fast forwarding mode. After that, the whole morning was spent taking pictures at various places around the temple vicinity. There were many middle eastern tourists which came by the bus loads. They were amazed at seeing my friend and his wife and almost everyone whipped out their cameras to take pictures of Yea Chern’s wife. Everyone.
Congrats bro. Treat your wife right. Hope I can be godfather soon, ok.

RIP - Enola Gay’s pilot
![]()
CHICAGO, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the U.S. bomber that dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan on Aug. 6, 1945, died on Thursday at age 92, a newspaper reported.
Tibbets, who died at his home in Columbus, Ohio, had suffered strokes and was ill from heart failure, the Columbus Dispatch said in its online edition.
An experienced pilot who had flown some of the first bombing missions over Germany during World War Two, Tibbets was a 30-year-old colonel commanding the Enola Gay, a B-29 Superfortress bomber named for his mother.
After a six-hour flight to Japan, Tibbets’ crew dropped the bomb, code-named “Little Boy,” over Hiroshima at 8:15 a.m.
“If Dante had been with us on the plane, he would have been terrified,” Tibbets said later. “The city we had seen so clearly in the sunlight a few minutes before was now an ugly smudge. It had completely disappeared under this awful blanket of smoke and fire.”
The bomb instantly killed about 78,000 people. By the end of 1945, the number of dead had reached about 140,000 out of an estimated population of 350,000.
Three days later the United States dropped an atomic bomb nicknamed “Fat Man” on Nagasaki. Japan surrendered on Aug. 15, 1945, bringing World War Two to an end.
Tibbets said in interviews he did not regret the decision to drop the bomb.
He became a brigadier general before leaving the military in 1966. Later he was president of Executive Jet Aviation, a Columbus-based international air-taxi service, the newspaper said.
