Bear Beer

January 9th, 2009 13 comments

Recently, I went to the kedai runcit (grocery store) nearby my house to buy beer and stout. This shop not only have the usual shit (carlsberg, tiger, skol and anchor)…. but some unheard-of brands such as this Bear Beer. After scanning it can, it says it’s brewed in Germany. Ok… I’ll take it for a try. Its just RM6.80 for a 0.5L.

The taste is slightly sweet…. man, this is something different. Not bad for a taste. I would certainly recommend this to beer drinkers who are sick of the lack-of-choice of affordable beer here in Malaysia.

Valid for all countries except:

The other day when I was in Europe and had some chats with the only South African couple of Indian Muslim descent, I told them that we Malaysians are not permitted to travel to Israel. The couple were like “what the fuck??!” and in real disbelief. We were talking about something during dinner that lead to him bringing up his merry tales of his visit to Israel. The Dr. from Johannesberg… a chinese accupuncture and shiatsu practitioner by profession, was in total disbelief and lost of words after I told him that we were even once not permitted to go to South Africa before they abolished apartheid.

Then I pulled out my passport to show him that very page:

He then quickly whipped out his camera to take a picture of this page. He wanted to show to his mates back home.

And… here’s the old passport (just in case he reads my blog):

GAB & education

January 7th, 2009 2 comments

Ok… I don’t know if you all know about this… but after I saw a poster at the supermarket showing GAB is raising funds for Chinese education, I was a bit sorry. Yeah… i’m not against it…. I’m supporting it by buying Guiness stout etc. It is a noble cause in the name of education.

BUT… let me ask you…. aren’t there Indian/Tamil educated GAB-brand drinkers? Why can’t they raise a fund for “Indian education” as well? We can only wonder…

Yea Chern’s wedding

January 5th, 2009 No comments

This is a long overdue post. Well, would like to congrat my friend for his wedding last month. Dinner was held at Selayang Palace…… in our hometown. A car accident happened to one of the entourage car earlier in the morning while on the way to the bride’s house. The cameraman and the videoographer was in that car. Well, it was just a minor bump to the rear bumper by a taxi coming from behind. Nothing really serious.

It was an assembly of all the buddies. On table 86: Mun Choon & Uncle Lim.

Yea Chern. Why is he not wearing a tie?

I think I was overdressed. That’s why a batik shirt is always the best for any function. It is formal attire and its suits any occasion and you dont look overdressed.

Yea Chern was singing a Jacky Cheung’s song to his wife.

Uncle Lim and Daniel F were singing chinese song (Alan Tam’s song) and I dont read a chinese words just pretend like I’m singing.

Ok. Here’s all the ladies… old friends and the missus. I dont know why they bent down a bit. Coming up around the corner is Sean Kok Ming’s grand wedding.

Innsbruck Austria

January 1st, 2009 2 comments

Innsbruck was the host city of Winter Olympics oof 1964 and 1976. We reached there in the evening after visiting Swarovski.

As the name suggest, this is a theater house. That Indian guy is Muhammad…. the only South African in our group. The other 2 ladies in jeans seen here are the Brazillians.

This is where we bought our lunch. The shops at the aldstadt are interesting.

Pork shop. Meat, sausages, ham and bacons.

Schnapps. There’s a shop where they allow schnapps tasting for free. Our tour group swarmed the shop and I dont know if any of them buy anything from the shop. Schnapps is liquor.

Food is expensive here and the most value for money food is italian food. Pizzerias are everywhere. The spaghetti I had here was great… one of the best cabonara I’ve ever had. Italian bierra. I’m not interested in schnapps. Also the al-fresco dining is great as the weather was cool and there’s no car moving around there. Sitting there and just lepak, watching people around is surely a relaxing experience.

Free flow drinking water. They also have it in Florence, Rome and Venice.

The famous Golden Roof in Innsbruck. Whats the significance? The Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) is a landmark in Innsbruck, Austria built in 1500. It was decorated with 2657 fire-gilded copper tiles for Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor. The reliefs on the balcony show coats of arms, symbols and other figures in his life.

The Golden Roof was built by Archduke Friedrich IV in the early 15th century as the residence of the Tirolean sovereigns. The Golden Roof actually is the three-story balcony on the central plaza at the heart of the Old Town. It was constructed for Emperor Maximilian I to serve as a royal box where he could sit in luxury and enjoy tournaments in the square below. Completed at the dawn of the 16th century, the Golden Roof was built in honor of Maximilian’s second marriage, to Bianca Maria Sforza of Milan. Not wishing to alienate the allies gained by his first marriage, to Maria of Burgundy, he had an image of himself between the two women painted on his balcony.

Ross (slapping his face) and Noemi.

I just love the mountains and the sceneries.

Sill River (Wipptal).

Taken at the bridge.

A chinese restaurant up ahead….. the residential area road is going uphill.

A nice building. Szer is entering a second hand bookshop.
