Copper coins
I was at Tesco the other day and after buying some stuffs just for the sake of getting free parking, I overheard a lady yelling at a young boy not to pick up a 1 sen coin on the floor. They boy picked it up anyway.
The lady said to the boy that he can’t buy anything with it. Not even a sweet. Man… what is this. 1 sen coin is still a legal tender. How can these obese adult tell a kid not to pick it up if he sees one. At least the boy is 1 sen richer.
It is because of all these people who see 1 sen coins as a nuisance, many places are not returning it in change should you pay for a bill with government service tax charges. Hence, they short change you and you lose. If you don’t want the 1 sen, you can always put it in donation box that often available near to the cashiers.
