Prepaid phone card is a mouse click away

October 31st, 2007 No comments

My girlfriend in now abroad and we miss each other so much that we would call each other everyday. However, the call rate is expensive for both of us. Therefore PhoneCardsAvenue is the answer. Their prepaid phone card is quite reasonable. If you’re lucky, you can get call card for almost every destinations in the world. Oh, by the way, the holiday season is around the corner and you would want to keep in touch with your loved ones living overseas.

They’ve introduced a 3% cash back rebate program recently where you will get 3% of every calling card or phone card purchases that you make with PhoneCardsAvenue. Wow, thats good. In their website, there is a phone cards list where you can compare card before making a purchase. They even have a phone card tip on using phone cards which I find it very informative.

For example, usually each card has good rate for only one country or two. They allow people to buy $5 calling cards. The reason being that some people like to try several different cards to find the best deals. Those people usually prefer to buy $5 calling cards, the cheapest value, before they start buying a bigger value phone cards. This is understandable giving the situation of the rate changes that might occur from the phone card manufacturer’s side. If you find a very good rate for a specific country, don’t use that card for other countries. If there is not rate list for the country for a specific card, that means rate is high. Don’t use those card designed for international call to make a domestic call. Usually there will be more charges.

This post is brought to you by PhoneCardsAvenue through PayPerPost.

Sorry, a bit busy for the past few days. Well, Szer is away for 2 months. I’ll be a bit lonely here. :( Been trying to see some friends but too bad, many won’t be available during weekdays. So sad.

At the same time, its been raining quite a lot for the past month. A lot of road accidents. So it’ll be a bit more work these days.

You don’t realise how much I need you.
Love you all the time and never leave you.
Please come on back to me.
I’m lonely as can be. I need you.

Civilian Reserve Army

October 26th, 2007 No comments

It was after our SPM exam. That was 1999. Mun Choon (also my colleague now) saw a newspaper article about the askar wataniah and asked me if wanna join since we got nothing to do after the exam. It was our drifting days.

Rejimen 515 (AW) – Kem Jalan Ampang

We were asked to perform a medical checkup at Hospital Angkatan Tentera in Puchong. Both of us went there on Mun Choon’s motorcycle. From Selayang to Puchong we went. There’s an intensive 2 months training or a 1 year duration weekend training. The training was every weekend. Saturday 1.30pm till Sunday 5.00pm. We were given allowance of RM32.00 each session/weekend of attendance. Meals were provided. Lunch, tea, dinner, supper and breakfast. We have the option to stay overnight or go home and come back the next morning. Of course we stayed overnight. The barrack was a bit dirty. No choice. There were less than 10 chinese guys while the rest were malay guys. There’s were also girls. So… all there were about 30-35 people.

Morning exercise would involve jogging with M16. Yes. An unloaded M16 carbine and hold it and jog around the area (outside the camp). We ran around Gleneagles Hospital (just next to the camp) and Jalan Jelatek. Holding that M16 that weigh about 4 kg. Then in the afternoon we marched under the scorching sun holding that same piece of shit, M16. Arrgh. Many weaker ones fainted. We did not. Man, I tell you, it was not as fun as you thought it would be.

Military men cannot have beard. Only can have moustache. Some of us who had a few strands of hair on our chin were punished the usual style. Do a 20 (push up). Our spirit were short lived by the inevitable racism. Sorry to say but it is a fact. They was a shortage of uniforms and the malays were given first. So the rest of us who don’t have uniform, wore tracksuits and tshirts. Ok, well, we learned how to dismantle, assemble, and servicing the rifle. We were also given theory classes about army assault tactics.

When college started, we just ignored the training. Arh, fuck it. Forget it. You see, if we were given uniform, even just a camo pants would have make us stay to complete the training. That sense of belonging wasn’t there. We were like aliens in tracksuits. Too bad National Training was not introduce yet at that time.

Kiddos, National Service is good for you. If you have a chance to go for it, take the challenge. If given a chance I would go for it even now.

Very expensive chicken rice in Jalan Ipoh

October 24th, 2007 3 comments

Chicken rice (white chicken + roast pork + cucumber + a scoop of ginger) for one (1) person; 1 glass Chinese tea.

Guess how much the bugger charged me? A whopping RM 9.60 ! Just for a fucking plate chicken rice. Arrgh. Even Chicken Rice Shops in shopping centres are cheaper.

RM 7.80 for chicken
RM 1.50 for roast pork
RM 0.30 for chinese tea

Con shop ! Con shop ! Then later at nite I told my mum I was charged RM9.60 for chicken rice and a cup chinese tea at Jalan Ipoh…. she quickly asked “is it the corner shop… where dad used to take us for dim sum at 3rd Mile??? “. I was like “eh.. how you know, mi ?!”. Then she said that shop is famous for “cut throat” because they are famous kopitiam on Jalan Ipoh since the 70s. (Restoran Tin Hoe Hweeh)

Oh I see. Now I know. Its just next to the red/orange tall building. Usually, me and my hommies go for dim sum a few shops further down the row… next to Hong Leong Bank.
