Flooded unregistered Nissan Latio in the market
Was having lunch with a bunch of Tan Chong people when they talked about the recent massive flood in KL had flooded a good bunch of new cars at the assembly plant stockyard in Segambut.
Cars especially the just-launched-a-month-ago Nissan Latio and the CKD Renault Kangoos were badly flooded just before they were distributed to dealerships. The car maker repaired and replaced the necessary parts and now the cars were distributed nationwide to be sold as normal new cars… in a normal price. There were some other models affected by the flood too… Sentra, Cefiro, Frontier, X-Trail & Urvan.. though not that many. Hmmm.
Sometimes, not all parts are replaced. Some they just repair/reuse or just wash it. Most important thing is that new-car smell when you but a brand new car. So if your new Nissan car smells funny…. check with the dealer or the assembly plant in Segambut. They’ll have record there… or maybe you can check with the various insurance companies for which might have dealt with the flood claim. Check according to alphabetical order of all the insurance companies in Malaysia.
Just in case you’ve bought a Nissan recently… after the flood…. if you find any funny problem in your car, go and get a rectification with Tan Chong. Oh, you can check by pulling up the floor carpet and see if the floorboard have any rust stain building up.
