Eating laksa at the beach : Laksa Tsunami

August 16th, 2007 1 comment

I found one of the best laksa shack in Langkawi…probably in Malaysia, just next to Casa del Mar, Pantai Cenang. Introduced by a local waitress at a malay eatery when we were looking for laksa for lunch. Laksa Kedah. Laksa beras.

The owner of the stall also operate a water activities stuffs like banana boat, kayaks, sampans etc.

The place is just nice for an afternoon chill out place.

Sipping coconut water had never been better. No additive or preservatives. RM3.00 and its huge. Chelva was too obsessed with his coconut he got no time to pose for the camera. Gee.

So good for laksa that Szer adn I went there for our lunch again right before boarding the plane back to KL. Chelva and sis departed earlier that morning due to flight unavailability in the afternoon.

Gwen Stefani agreed to cover up for her KL show

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – There will be no revealing costumes at U.S. singer Gwen Stefani’s concert in Malaysia this month, a newspaper said on Saturday, after a Muslim student group demanded that the event be cancelled as being too obscene.

Although Malaysia is a moderate Muslim country with sizeable non-Muslim minorities, conservative groups often frown upon departures from strict Koranic injunctions.

Malaysian mobile phone firm Maxis Communications, which is promoting the August 21 show as part of Stefani’s “Sweet Escape” tour, promised it would feature no revealing costumes, the Star newspaper said.

“She will abide by the Malaysian authorities’ guidelines to ensure that her show will not be offensive to local sensibilities,” it quoted a Maxis statement as saying.

Malaysia’s official guide for performers says women must be covered from the top of the bosom to the knees, the Star said.

Jumping, shouting and the throwing of objects are barred, while performers may not hug, kiss or wear clothes with obscene or drug-related pictures or slogans, it added.

On Tuesday, an official of the 10,000-strong National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students said Stefani’s video promotion clips were obscene and the event would clash with local Asian and Islamic values.

“We want the organizers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene,” said Mohamad Hilmi Ramli, the group’s president.

Ethnic Malays, who are by definition Muslims, make up just over half of Malaysia’s 26 million people, while ethnic Chinese and Indians, who are mostly Buddhists, Christians or Hindus, account for most of the rest.

The concert will be held on 21st August 2007 at Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Jalil Indoor Stadium. Tickets priced at: RM385, RM365, RM285, RM175 & RM125.

The price I paid for the concert is not justified. Revealing her wares is her trademark, now she’s gonna cover up… its very un-Gwen but what to do?! This is Malaysia… Bolehland.

Armpit story

August 16th, 2007 No comments

Went to Watson’s and bought a cream for hair removal. Then when taking shower, i tried to apply it on my armpit. Man, it burns. But then quite a number of strands of hair removed when i wiped it with a provided-in-package sponge. The hair just fell off. The cream smells like those chemical you found in a hair salon… maybe those bleach before you perm or dye your hair.

Though not all hair is gone yet… but at least it should be better than plucking it with a tweezer or shaving.

Can someone share some armpit hair removal with me… besides plucking it out.
