Thats where insurance comes in
Something very unfortunate happened to my hommy, Lee. His car was stolen today… maybe yesterday night. I don’t know. And the investigating officer (sergeant) had indicated that he want some tea-money from him…. so that everything will be smooth. Thats life in Malaysia.

so… shall we live with it or try to make a change ? The sum the IO asked for was quite hefty. Four figures.
I used to come across a car owner whose car was stolen and was recovered. The stolen car was a Wira and he drove an Estima to the police station with his wife to collect the Wira. When I was with him at the police station to collect the car… he didn’t pay the tea-money and the IO told him if you wanna the said car, you have to come and see me again for some documents. Else, you cannot sell the car without these documents.
So… this is a normal practice of these IOs. You dont pay now, you’d pay later.. hmmm. But even if we dont pay, it’ll only take longer time to settle right ?! So, the hassles or the money ?
