G space

November 29th, 2006 No comments

Just in case some of you still unaware of this little extension for your Firefox browser. This addon let you use your disk space in yor Gmail account to store your datas. I find it very useful for backups and you don’t need to carry your thumbdrive everywhere you go. It’s something like an ftp (file transfer protocol) client.

Go check it out at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1593/

With the reputation of Gmail in the webmail game… i wonder why there are still people who have not heard of Gmail…. let alone using it. There are many friends of mine still reluctant to migrate from other webmail service provider…. namely Hotmail and Yahoo. Even while at work, when I gave away my gmail address on the phone to some clients… they were like “Huh?? G what? How to spell? No hotmail?”. Well, I understand that we need a Hotmail/MSN account for MSN Messenger… Live Messenger and a Yahoo id for all Yahoo’s services but for email…. I think no one can beat Gmail yet. Their approach to email is simply out of this world and their no-nonsense advertising. Simple, fast and elegant. The chat applet built into the Gmail interface is brilliant. U can hook up with your friends practically at anywhere. No need to install any chat programs.

So, for this gspace… if you already have a gmail account… please don’t use your primary account. Get a bogus one for file transfers. I dont know if the programmer of this little add-on is a malicious hacker.

Weeping

I cried yesterday… while finishing the last chapter of the book Flags of our Fathers. A very touching real story….. especially the letter the grand-daughter wrote to her grandad (the flagraiser-Doc). Looking forward for the movie to reach Malaysia. I wonder if it will be screened in Malaysia.

Kiddo mart

Ok. First of all, Nestle does not pay me anything to put this up here. Sorry. I was strolling at the Kepong Jusco supermarket this afternoon while waiting for my cousins to grab some clothes for the wedding dinner tonite. They came from Johor for the wedding of one aunt and they brought no decent clothes for a dinner. Uncle fucked them up and I gotta bring them to buy some decent clothes.

You would ask why I put up a Koko Krunch box here. Well, I’m a fanatic of it. Many of my friends would laugh at me for that I still crave for these cereals. Aren’t they just for kids ?? I don’t know. I’m a big kid I’d guess. I can wallop a big box in 2 days. Nowadays, there are stiff competitions among the cereal brands and they came up with all sorts of freebies to give away to keep their loyal customers. It’s something a kid would look for. Smart move. The McDonald’s Happy Meal way is proven to work. Food + toy = sales !!

Here, I wonder if their toy collection of body parts…. have a penis or a vagina. You know… maybe this one I got here is for the South East Asia market. Maybe in Europe or Japan, they have the penis or vagina….

Chillison kilkennisan

So, the meet up on Saturday nite was rather pleasant with the presence of Lex, Gallivanter, meekie, tihtahpah and that Larawannabe. We have it at Mid Valley Chilli’s and then we proceeded to Hartamas Cristro’s for a few pints of spiritual beverages.

Actually, to me, it was kinda awkward as we seem to know each other for sometime but in fact it was the first time meeting them in person. We call this the power of internet. I spent the first half hour gazing at them, studying them as much as I can in the dim light, and got interrupted by Lex’ popek-popek but nevertheless she’s good to have as a live wire. Lex made edible cookies though a bit soft and not that crispy. There’s still room for improvements. Keep up the good baking. We want more, we want more… cookies… for cookie monster is waiting.

I don’t know if this meet-up was the idea of Gallivanter or meekie, but thanks to them for making it happen. They will be the organizer for events to come. Good to have someone to fix all the things and all you have to do is just bring yourself. Ahoy. Gallivanter, the preacher of kilkennism, is shorter than I’ve expected. No offence intended. He’s an interesting guy. On the other hand, meekie’s kinda elegant with her dress and bling blings… and so happened she’s the classmate of woaychee in secondary school. What a fucking small world.

As for tihtahpah, she was late but better than never. She had cool day in a cool job before she came for the meet-up. After a few sips of alcohol, she turned red and hot. Her face was so red after a few sips of mojito. Kekekkekek. LOL.

Last but not least, there was this malay lady… she’s Larawannabe. She came with her hubby (not a blogger) and her cute little girl.

Revolution

November 12th, 2006 7 comments

Of late, we seldom see any revolution in the music industry unlike what happened in the years of the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Scorpions, Tupac and the likes where generations of artists later would imitate if not follow their style.. or as an inspiration or something like that.

I’m not in the industry nor do I have anything to do with these people. I’m just a bloke on the street who likes music that’s good. Well, its just a curiosity.

A week or two ago, I came across this banner at Hard Rock Cafe in downtown KL where the tribute band, Beatles impersonators… look alike… fanatics.. what ever you call them.. will be doing gigs there. It was The Mersey Beatles. I’m a Beatles fan myself despite the generation gap… but to come to think of it… it is very good to see after years the band disbanded… let alone 2 band members were dead, there are still a huge legion of followers. Better still, they are of one or two generations younger.

There are also many Elvis’ and MJ’s look alikes. Even in the audition of Malaysian Idol 2, you’d see a macha groping his crotch while doing the moonwalk before the 3 judges. These legends have their own style and way or dressing that distinguish them from the rest.

Are there any other performers that have such an impact on our society nowadays where the next generation might try to follow? Be it their hairstyles, dressings, way of singing, playing instruments etc. 50 Cent? This generation are dressing like the rappers with all the bling blings etc.
