Blogging politics

September 19, 2006 By: endroo G Category: Bloggy 6 Comments →

Not to be confused with the former ” The Politics of Blogging “(now Tranquility), I’m now writing about how to make our blogging experience merrier. The Master of Betting Administration (MBA) asked me over a drink, about why we bloggers blog. Why I blog? Gee… first, I’m kinda addicted. Second, its a pastime that doesn’t require cash (apart from the Internet connection fees). Third, as I stated earlier in Why we blog?! , it is for your close one, friends and even foes to know about your day to day life. I treat blogging like writing diary. I write whatever shit I wanna write. My parents read my blog, my aunties read my blog, my hommies read my blog, my colleagues read my blog, my internet newfound friends read my blog, strangers read my blog… what else do you want?

Ok. I screwed him for asking such a thing when he himself does not blog. Of course he have to blog in order to know why we blog. Right? He also asked my opinion on ideas to make our blogging experience better. As far as I can see, the free blog tools like (e.g. Blogspot, Wordpress.com) today are all very capable and suffice our requirement. You can even publish your post from your mobile phone with GPRS/3G connection. Wi-Fi hotspot are mushrooming everywhere. You can host your audio/video file for people to share in your blog… .though being hosted in other places such as YouTube and the likes, nonetheless you can get the thing you want to show people on your blog.

Blogging also keep us striving like journalist (though not as professional) for what to post. You’ll think while you’re driving for example, on what to post tonight. Getting your trip pictures published to the cyberspace for global viewing. Showing your home-made amateur video to the world.. who knows you might just be selected by Lonely Planet for audition. All these can be done in minutes. So, do you still rely on the snail mail to send pictures to your loved one staying abroad?? In blog, all can be done in one place… you can make it a rojak blog where you write whatever you want or have specific topics for it.

So, back to his question, how to make the blogging experience better. Anyone?! I really dont know how to answer him this. Here’s some of my cents.. 50 that is:

Mobile blogging - I’m hoping that in the near future, we can post a blog from email with picture attachment to be published. At the moment, posting from email only confined to text-only posts. No pictures can be published. With the ever sophistication of camera phone and smartphone, I think it is now the time to take mobile blogging to another level. Like Nokia’s Lifeblog, that one we have to pay for the services and buy their buggy crap blogging softwares.

Telco people, if you’re reading this… here are some ideas from me.

To boost the GPRS/3G usage, lower down the charges or have a per month flat-rate and host a free blogging service where your registered users (postpaid/prepaid) can have a unique venue to express themselves while on the move. I’m sure, many people will use it. A reasonable flat-rate charge will make the offer more attractive. Volume counts. Using MMS to post a blog? Hmm… a great idea. With that, you can put in pictures and audio files to your post, video. This is what multimedia is all about. In MMS, there’s no restriction on alphabet/character counts. You can post grandmother stories from it. What else you want? I’m sure the technical requirements to fulfill all this dreams can be easily found and might have been surpassed.

How do you want blogging improve? How blogging should be?
