World Cup: A shattered hope

March 11th, 2006 No comments

So… I was mislead by the newspaper today. Last Thursday, read about the arrival of the FIFA World Cup (that trophy) in KL (Berjaya Times Square). On Wednesday, it was opened only for the fucking VIPs (very idiotic people) and it was available for the public viewing from Thursday onwards. Fixed a date with Lee & Nicole to see the Cup just now after work… after 1.00pm (Saturday).

Went to Times Square, have our lunch and then looked for the “Manhattan Ball Room” as what the paper The Sun reported. We couldn’t find it and we asked a guy at the information counter to assist us.

G: Excuse me, Boss. We want to see the World Cup. How do we get there??
Info Guy: Oh, I’m afraid you gotta catch the next available flight to either Bangkok or Jakarta to see the Cup.
G: What???!! What the fuck?!
Lee: Huh?! What is this, G?! You bluffed me… fuck.
Info Guy: It was available for 1 day ONLY. That was Thursday. Ha. Anything else?!
G:Ok, thanks. May the Force be with Deutschland.
Lee: England boleh !!

[*walked off*]

Why is it only available on Thursday when everyone is working??? I geared up with my DFB jersey, with a hope of getting a glimpse of the coveted Cup of Life…. but thats what they did to me. Its a very stupid action to set the viewing time to weekdays. I don’t mind if they impose an entrance fee of, say RM2.00 (not more than that please). I am willing to pay just to see the Cup and take a picture of it. I can’t afford to go to Germany to watch the finals, even if I do, I won’t get any chance to see the Cup. So this was supposed to be a very lucky chance but its now no more. Fuck. Lets wait for another 4 years.

Why we blog ?!

March 11th, 2006 2 comments

When I moved to Blogspot, I only realized how retarded that Friendster’s blog was. So, why do we blog? I may be a little bit late to catch up with the addiction (blogspot been in the scene for I think since Linux kernel 2.0 or maybe a little earlier) but its part of life and its a place to write out shits and occupy my time rather than reading the newspaper in the toilet for 3 hours (now only 1.5 hours).

The business here at this blog is far better than the Friendster blog of mine. Thanks to the links from keeykeey, I got some new readers and more feedbacks/comments from them. They are kind of a people who take their blogs seriously, well, like me. They keep up with the happenings of their hommies through blogs. All their hommies do blog.

How I wished my hommies blog, as regularly as them (liewxxx or keeykeey’s connections). Share their daily happening(s), new eating place they went, how fucked up is the office, etc etc. Something, anything. A photo and a small caption will do. A picture tells a thousand words and some say a million words. Thats fucking true.

Imagine if Ng blogs, he would be publishing his safari trips in Africa where lions whack (eat) horses, cannibals whack the civilized or about his African colleagues’ comment on the Gudang Garam Surya, et-cetera. YY would be writing about the days she been through after the London bombings, about that we could’ve seen her live on CNN/BBC where she was at the vigil in Trafalgar Sq or maybe her Paris trip last Christmas/New Year. Yea Chern, MBA (that’s Masters in Betting Administration, mind you) would be publishing his get-rich-quick investment journals, Lee with his football analysis comparable to Sherby’s (Singh) or perhaps sometimes about his lust for weird but nice food. Sean would’ve been updating us on pictures of his new house from the day before it was demolished and rebuilt to the one now which we finally saw last weekend. Yip would’ve told us about his car ’98 Subaru Impreza, his Powerbooks, his journeys across the United States of America to carry out his work or trip with his girlfriend etc. These are just to name a few persons….. some others do blog but very they update it 2 months once. :(

As we are all seeing each other less nowadays due to work, family commitments, staying far away or just sick of seeing that person everyday, this is a good way to keep others well-informed about yourself. At least, when you all meet, there’s something to start a conversation or, for those who are away for quite sometime (ie. overseas), there’s a chance of a gap (or some shit I don’t really know how to describe) between you and I because of not seeing each other for a long time. Sometimes, we are a bit lazy to craft an email, let alone reply it. Not like a blog, where you can just chip in a line of comment and stay in touch in that way. A more flexible way I’d guess. We can roughly understand a person’s character through their blog, I’d guess, again.

Enough. That’s all I wanna say. Hope you all understand what I wanna say. Please drop by an URL (in the comment section) for your blog if you blogs. Negara Ku, tanah tumpahnya darah ku, rakyat hidup bersatu dan maju…… bla bla bla bla..

Ok, good nite.
